Français 3: Be practicing the Quizlet with the irregular participes passés!
Français 4: In class today, we worked on double-checking, and fixing, two parts of your summer packet (to help with your "Quality" grade, when you turn them in again). Homework tonight, is to doublecheck and correct two things:
1-- The recipes: Make sure that you listed your ingredients with the CORRECT partitive article... (or the word un or une, or a number, if that's more appropriate). ONLY use des if your item is plural! You weren't supposed to put definite quantities, just these "some" words, so, if you know that you needed "some eggs", you should use des.... des oeufs. That means: some eggs. If you write, de l'oeuf, that just means some part of just one egg! Like, "Ewww, what is this smear on my desk??? Eww! It's de l'oeuf!" (=it's some egg). Also, remember that you use du if your item is masculine, unless it starts with a vowel or h.... so du sucre, du café, but de l'huile, de l'eau.
2-- On page 3B: You have a column, on the left, that are words for QUANTITIES. Whenever you use a QUANTITY word before a food item, do NOT USE du/de la / de l'/ or des.... USE: de (d').... because you just need the word for of . This applies even to non-specific quantity expressions, like beaucoup, un peu, and assez . See the examples in the box below that column of words.
3-- Also On Page 3B: The column on the right side, is a list of descriptions.... these are all ADJECTIVES... so the ending has to "agree" with what it's describing.
4-- SO.. for the activity on pages 26&27, where I gave you a partial phrase, but left a blank... you have to take note in your mind of how I wrote the phrase... for example, if I put "un peu de _____", you can NOT change de to d', and should not follow de with le, la, l', or les (because it's a quantity phrase) use it as I wrote it, and pick a word for the blank, that does not start with h or a vowel.
For the phrases that have DESCRIPTIONS: notice how the adjective looks at the end! If it is written in the plural, feminine form, your item in the blank must be a feminine food item that is written in plural. If it is written for masculine, plural, you must use a masculine food item that you put into plural... etc.
SO: Your homework is to carefully look through pages 26 & 27 and make sure you have put appropriate words in the blanks! You may change what you have... you will be graded (eventually) on QUALITY here. Also, look through what you wrote for the ingredients of recipes, and double-check/fix your du/de la/ de l' / des / un /une usage.
