2023 Registration Date:
Our French classes will register together, in class, on Wednesday, August 30, during our class period.
You must have your Social Security Number available (you won't show it to me, but you need it to register). Be sure to make your decision by then! You'll need to know your parent's email address, too.
French for College Credit French 3, French 4, and French 5 are available to my students for college credit through the ACP Program of the University of Missouri, St. Louis (UMSL). Qualifying students pay only about 1/5 of the cost of taking the course on the UMSL campus, and receive 5 college credits for French 3 or 4, and 3 credits for French 5. Our French 3 class is considered the equivalent of UMSL's 1st semester course, "French 1001: French I", our French 4 class is considered the equivalent of UMSL's 2nd semester course, "French 1002: French II", and our French 5 class is considered the equivalent of UMSL's 3rd semester course, "French 2101: Intermediate French Language and Culture I". The fee in the 2023-24 school year is $70 per credit hour ($350 for the 5-credit courses; $210 for the 3-credit course.)
NOTE:
These UMSL credits are transferable to many colleges -- a student does not have to attend UMSL during college years in order for this credit to be used. Saint Louis University, Maryville University, and most Missouri state universities accept the credit (Truman, Springfield, Cape, Mizzou, Rolla, UMKC), but, as a rule, high-priced private schools might not (Wash U does not). Smaller private schools may, and it is always best to find the phone number of the Modern Language department at the university you're interested in, and call to ask if they accept "Advanced College Credit for French" from your high school program. An advisor or admissions counselor at any college, might also be able to answer your question. But, first, try the online resource below, for checking to see where the credits will transfer:
• Does this transfer to the college of my choice? Click here for an interactive page to help you figure that out!
You can find a downloadable document of FAQs regarding this program, attached below.
On the UMSL ACP page, there is a link for a downloadable Power Point, with voiceover presentation, that gives you some very important information.
Here are several important helpful links:
• BROCHURE with brief highlights about the program
• UMSL ACP Program web page(<-- click here to register-- but, before registering, go here to read ALL about the program's specifics)
• UMSL Campus Maps
• Grade reports: If you wish to have your grade report MAILED by postal mail, call UMSL Records at 314-516-5676. Otherwise, you may see your grade via your online MYVIEW account.
AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, TO TRANSFER YOUR CREDITS TO YOUR COLLEGE, YOU NEED A TRANSCRIPT SENT:
• UMSL Transcript Request Form Official Paper Transcripts cost $10 each; Official Electronically-delivered Transcripts cost $5 each
UMSL Transcripts may now only be ordered via this online service. At that link, you will find everything explained about how to order your transcript, transcript options, and FAQs.
(NOTE: Remember that if you are requesting a transcript at the end of your senior year of high school, that year's UMSL/PHS grade will not yet have been sent in to UMSL... so, you must write on your transcript request form, "Hold until grades are posted for 2020-21" so that your transcript will include this school year's grade [unless your UMSL course was from a previous year].)
IF YOU NEED TO WITHDRAW FROM THE COURSE:
Go to this page on the UMSL ACP website, and scroll down to the section on "Adding Or Dropping Courses and Refunds", and follow the directions there.
FOR THE FUTURE
If you should end up wanting to actually attend UMSL after high school, please know that there is a special honors college division on the UMSL campus. Here is some info about that:
PIERRE LACLEDE HONORS COLLEGE at UMSL
Students should be aware that on the UMSL campus, there is also a small honors-college program, known as the Pierre Laclede Honors College. This college is a school-within-a-school, meant for high-achieving students. The classes are usually smaller than those that are part of the general UMSL campus. Additional scholarships for all qualified applicants are available, and housing is also available for the Pierre Laclede Honors College. For more information, click here .
PLEASE NOTE: Annually, there is an "Honors Day" open house held at the campus. The event is usually held at the Provinicial House Building ( directions here ). To attend, reserve your spot by calling (314) 516-7769 OR email at [email protected]. Check back here for more information, later in the school year.

NOTE:
- Our Full year = One Semester In College: College courses on a campus, are one-semester courses. But, our high-school class is a full-year (2 semester) course, so, I will average your 2 semester grades, when I turn in your grade to UMSL in May. You only register once, in the fall.
- The equivalent 5-hour course, when taken on the UMSL campus, costs $1,895 (over $1,500 more than earning the same credit through our Pattonville class).
