Français 3: No homework tonight, but it is ALWAYS a good idea to get some Quizlet practice in with vocab and imparfait stems!
Français 4: Study for Thursday's verb test! (Azim, you'll take it at 1:15 on Thursday).
Français 1: By Monday, finish the last page of the Victor Hugo packet (the questions about 1972).
Français 3: No homework tonight, but it is ALWAYS a good idea to get some Quizlet practice in with vocab and imparfait stems! Français 4: Study for Thursday's verb test! (Azim, you'll take it at 1:15 on Thursday). Français 1: Read the encyclopedia passage about Victor Hugo's life (found in your packet), and use it to answer the questions on the page after it (except for the last question, about the term sanctuary).
Français 3: Pick any 15 of our household vocab words, and use each one in its own "franglais" sentence (any amount can be English, EXCEPT the article and noun-- they must be in French). CAREFUL! Since your article (the, a, some, my, his, etc.) needs to be in French, do NOT also put an article in English! AND...Be sure that your sentences show clear context for that word! UNDERLINE and/or HIGHLIGHT the key vocab, AND translate (just the French) in parentheses, at the end of your sentence. EX: Correct style: I stole sa lampe, because mine wasn't working and it was dark in my room (his lamp). WRONG style: I stole his la lampe, because mine wasn't working and it was dark in my room (notice that you do not need both his and la...it makes no sense to have both. Just put his in French (sa), and then you don't need la.) Français 4: Re-write the Quiche recipe into the passé composé (think about the translation while doing it, but you don't have to write out the translation). Français 1: Do the reading and the 3 questions on the first inside page of the Victor Hugo packet. Français 3: I'm attaching the worksheet I gave out in class. Fill in the blanks, using the imparfait or the passé composé of the infinitives given at the beginning of each sentence. These are all instances of a background event going on ("was .....ing") when a sudden one-time event happened. Remember that when you think about which tense to use in each blank. TRANSLATE each sentence!
Français 4: Il n'y a pas de devoir ce weekend!
Français 1: Study heavily on QUIA for Friday's test!
Français 3: Pink section of worksheet handed out in class (and translate... carefully!) Français 1: See previous posts for info on tests this week. Section 1 on Wednesday; Section 2 on Friday.
Français 3: Worksheet handed out in class, top section ONLY, translate. (If you were absent, I'll give you the work when you return.) Français 4: Salade Niçoise: Traduisez + 2 listes. Français 1: Go to our QUIA page (link is in the light pink box at the top of our moodle page). Do the LAST activity ("Bleu Unité 1: Basics and Nationalité pop-ups"). Do all 46 questions. Have your notes and maps out for reference while you do this, to get the most out of it! Bring in a parent-signed note verifying that you did this (no note = 0 points). Here is a direct link to the activity, if you prefer to go directly there. Don't forget.... two-part test this week, Wednesday and Friday!
3rd Hour: ALSO work on the 5th activity that we did in class for a couple of minutes (Un 1 Bleu: the, a, my, your [articles!]) Français 3: Pick any 10 of our new irregular stems for the Imparfait ... you'll be writing a short phrase with each, like this: • Use all of our subjects (just vary them... sometimes je, sometimes elle, sometimes nous, etc. • Start each phrase off with souvent (=often) or d'habitude (=usually).... just alternate every other one • Translate the phrase, using the "used to ...." translation EX: D'habitude, elle buvait... (= She usually used to drink...) Souvent, je choisissais.... (= I often used to choose...) Français 4: La Mousse au Chocolat: traduisez • faites une liste de participes passés et une autre de participes présents (puis traduisez tout ça, aussi) Français 1: Both classes-- finish the stick figure, 2-column worksheet (if you were absent from class, please go to the moodle and find the HOMEWORK folder for this unit, and download the Stick Figures worksheet-- follow the examples and instructions CAREFULLY and FULLY). UNIT TEST ON WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK!
3rd-Hour class: Also finish the back of the phone numbers activity worksheet. Français 3: Relax and enjoy Homecoming weekend... we dive head first into our new unit next week! Français 4: Faites au moins 15 minutes de pratique avec les nouvelles activités QUIZLET qui se trouvent dans le QUIZLET dossier RECETTES. You must bring in a parent-signed note to get credit (no note = 0/10). Français 1: Rayven and Lesley (and anyone else who missed class)-- We did NOT do the two-column stick-figure worksheet today. We DID do the family riddles worksheet, so you need to do that one (family words are on page 35 [handed out as part of the packet of book pages the other day], but there are those additional ones on the BACK of the worksheet, too.)
ALSO: We learned how to make the numbers in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It's a little tricky, but look on the back of your Unité 1 note sheet (or page 33 of your textbook) to see how they do it (for the 70s, they add the numbers 10 through 19 to the word for sixty; for the 80s, they start with "quatre-vingts" [note the S -- ONLY on 80... not on 81, 82, 83, etc,], which means "four twenties", and then add numbers to that; for the 90s, they use the words for 80, and continue adding the numbers 10 through 19.) WORKSHEET: Go to the moodle and find the folder entitled, "Worksheets and Devoirs", and find the "French phone numbers" activity. It's kind of long, so you (Rayven and Lesley) can have until Monday to finish THIS one, but please have the riddles finished by Friday. I'll put a copy of the Family Riddles worksheet in there, too. 3rd Hour class only: You have until Monday morning to do the BACK of the phone numbers worksheet ... but the FRONT half is due Friday, and also the family riddles worksheet. Français 1: Book page 36 (handed out in class), Activities 1 & 2... follow the example and the instructions, and then TRANSLATE ALL into ENGLISH. (Remember, in Activity 2, drop the "le" word before you add Mon or Ma or Ton or Ta.
If you missed class: Since you didn't get the handout, no problem... look in your book online, or in the book you have at home, OR there is a folder on the moodle with book pages uploaded. ALSO... you'll need to look at the new notes on pages 27, 32, 35, and 36. Français 3: TEST on the long day! Français 4: Soufllé au fromage: Traduisez la recette (y compris [=including] la conversion pour les quantités des ingrédients) ET AVEC ÇA.... Faites deux listes: une liste pour les participes présents (et traduisez-les) et une liste pour les participes passés comme adjectifs (et traduisez-les). Français 1: Math worksheet, numbers 0-69, given out in class.
Français 3: Test on the long day this week! Make good use of QUIZLET and QUIA for practice (I put an additional game on QUIA, too.) Français 4: Sur une autre feuille de papier, traduisez la recette pour Croque Monsieur. EN PLUS: Faites une liste de tous les participes présents (et traduisez-les), et aussi une liste de tous les participes passés comme adjectif (et traduisez-les) (EX: peppered beef; closed door; buttered dish; sliced carrots; cut-up onion; "when the eggs are whipped"; "as soon as the vegetables are cooked" ). |
