Français 1: 1st Hour -- 2 assignments about the weather, on the back of the "2 Verbs Together" packet. (3 rd Hour -- we didn't get to review weather enough in class Monday, because of the clock problem, but you'll be getting this assignment soon, too ;)
Français 3: 2nd hour -- See Wednesday's post for 5th hour. SHORT QUIZ NEXT TUESDAY on que, qui, dont, where you will be placing the correct word in a sentence, and knowing how to translate the sentence.
Français 4: Grammar highlighting activity (directions and sentences handed out in class) + translate. Français 1: Test Friday! See Tuesday's post for more info and QUIZLET link. IF YOU ARE IN ISS: You should spend at least an hour today, and Thursday, on various QUIZLET activities, studying for Friday's test. I will come get you around 12:40 on Friday, to come with me to my room to take the test. Français 3: IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY: Please go to the moodle. Find the folder with "...HP pages" in it. Inside, find the folder, "Harry Potter reading pages". Download and print out pages 164 and 165. Then, get a PINK highlighter (preferably!), and your vocab list for HP pages 164-165 (also available in the first folder, if you don't have it). Find, highlight, and label (with English translation) all of the words on that vocab list, on those two HP pages (164-65). ALSO: I've attached one more (the last!) worksheet chart of passé simple examples to work with. Careful... this one uses BOTH regular AND irregular verbs. SHORT QUIZ NEXT TUESDAY on que, qui, dont, where you will be placing the correct word in a sentence, and knowing how to translate the sentence.
Français 1: 1st Hour: Activity 9 (on back of "2 verbs together" packet) + translate. 3rd Hour: Activity 8 (on back of "2 verbs together" packet) + translate EVERYONE: Test on Friday on everything to do with -er verbs, conjugating them, making them negative, adding in adverbs and the rest of the sentence, two verbs together, and the new phrases for offering and accepting an invitation (EX: Do you want to ___? No, thanks, I can't. I have to ____.) STUDY WITH QUIZLET! If you can't get to the moodle to get the links for Quizlet, go HERE... that takes you to a folder on Quizlet with all of my Unité 3 Quizlet activities. Don't do the ones with "question words" or "faire" or "les objets dans la salle de classe." We haven't done that material yet. Français 3: Another worksheet for the irregular passé simple... I'm attaching it below, if I didn't give it to you already. ("15...") Français 4: Worksheet handed out in class recently (though at that time, I told you to hold on to it). I'll attach it at the bottom of this post ("participles.."), but it's the one with 12 sentences that you have to fill in the blank with an adjective that is either from a PAST participle or a PRESENT participle...it starts with, "Corey: J'ai trop travaillé!..." IF YOU MISSED CLASS: You'll need to make up your Claudel/Rodin test after school one day this week.
Français 1: Last page of "2 Verbs Together" Packet. 1st Hour: Activity 8 + translate; 3rd Hour: Activity 9 + translate.
If you missed class, you'll find the packet uploaded on the moodle, Unité 3, the folder with notes. Read the first two pages of notes about what to do when you have 2 verbs working together with the same subject... you conjugate the first one, but leave the second one as an infinitive: EX: Je peux étudier ce soir. = I can study tonight. (I handed out the packet and explained this to 1st hour, last week; 3rd hour students just got the packet today.) Français 3: Finish translating the worksheet with blanks for qui, que, dont (handed out last week). Do not use a translator! A dictionary is okay (word reference.com), but not a translator. Français 4: TEST on Rodin & Claudel Tuesday. Anything on the QUIZLET is fair game (go here for the QUIZLET). Français 1: Page 101 from the book (inside the packet I handed out today), Activity 15 (translate, too!) IF YOU MISSED CLASS -- download this page (101) from the folder of Book Pages for Unité 3. Read the explanation at the top before doing the activity.
Français 3: Fill in the blanks on the que/qui/dont worksheet I handed out. 5th Hour... do not translate yet! Français 4: Finish the vocab labeling so that all of the words from the 2 lists are labeled on BOTH Lecture A and Lecture B, if they appear more than once. TEST TUESDAY on Rodin/Claudel. Français 1: Study for Friday's test: days of week, months, seasons, writing the date, expressions related to this topic (anything on the related QUIZLET practice activity is fair game!)
Français 3: IF YOU MISSED 5th-Hour CLASS WEDNESDAY-- There are three activities you need to do, from page 334 in the book (Activities 8, 9, & 10). You'll need to read my extra page of directions for each activity, and carefully compare the directions to the examples given. To find both the book page AND the directions page, go to the moodle.... to the Passé Simple unit.... to the folder that has HOMEWORK, WORKSHEETS (etc.) in it ... find and download BOTH page 334, and the INSTRUCTIONS for page 334. Be sure to translate everything! All three of these activities together may take you an hour or so. Once you have finished these three activities please go to QUIZLET and practice the Harry Potter Vocab #1 for at least 10-15 minutes (go to the moodle for the link, or directly HERE). (If you were absent, please bring in a signed note verifying.) -->THURSDAY for 2nd Hour--- See directions above, except that the sub will hand out the 2 pages to you. Hand in your work at the end of the hour. You MAY use a red paperback dictionary from the shelf, but not the online dictionary.... you'll have to hand-write, too, because I do NOT want you to use your computers unless you have completed and HANDED IN the 3 activities.Once you have finished these three activities AND handed them in to the sub, please go to QUIZLET and practice the Harry Potter Vocab #1 for at least 10-15 minutes (go to the moodle for the link, or directly HERE). Show the sub that you are doing this and spending 10 minutes or so on it, and have her check off next to your name on the list I'm leaving for her. (If you have accomplished all of that before class is over, you may do other school work or relax.) Français 1: Remember-- TEST FRIDAY on days, dates, seasons, and all of those phrases related to that.
Homework tonight is the test review worksheet I handed out in class (IF YOU MISSED CLASS: Go to the moodle... to UNITÉ 2... to the folder with HOMEWORK in it... find the sheet called "Practice for test on days, dates, seasons, etc."). ALSO: Finish through #10 on the -er verbs with adverbs worksheet (through #15 if you're in 3rd hour). Français 3: 2nd Hour-- "dont" worksheet handed out in class (Lina, you'll have to get the notes from me, first, before you can do the worksheet). 5th Hour -- IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY: We went over the "dont" worksheet from last week, so be sure to hand that in to me. There is no make-up work. (We'll be using the sheets I gave you during class Wednesday.) Français 4: Participe Présent-- Using "en ____________ant" to express, "by ______ ing" (as in, "by the means of _________ing"). Do 3 of your own sentences from Activity 6 (on the front page of the packet) -- TRANSLATE--- and do all of Activity 5 on the b&w handout (TRANSLATE). Français 1: Everyone: Be sure that your 47 verbs 2X each project is finished to hand in for Monday. Remember that you should have included 6 examples of inserting "ne...pas" (or "n' .... pas") around your conjugated verb, to say that whoever it is does NOT do that action:
EX: Je ne parle pas allemand. = I don't speak German. Ils ne jouent pas du piano. = They don't play piano. Nous n'échangeons pas textos in class. = We don't exchange texts ... (Andrew--- I forgot to tell you to do this, so be sure to make 6 of your examples like this. Notice that the verb is the only word that goes inside the "ne...pas") IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY: You're going to work on two Quizlet activities. Both are in the moodle, but I'll put the links here. Be sure that, once you click on the link, you first look through the list to see what it is working with. Then, HAVE YOUR NOTES OUT while you do this, to help you. This one: http://quizlet.com/14328080/les-jours-de-la-semaine-et-les-mois-de-lannee-days-and-months-flash-cards/ and This one: http://quizlet.com/16350908/present-tense-conjugating-les-verbes-en-er-flash-cards/ You can play SCATTER a few times with each, but then, you MUST do the "LEARN" game, FROM ENGLISH. You will need a parent-signed note, or ISS-supervisor-signed note, verifying that you practiced for a total of 20 minutes. ALSO: Go to the moodle for unité 3, and find the folder that contains TEXTBOOK PAGES. Download and save "page 100". Then, carefully read what it tells you about using the 10 new phrases introduced at the top of the page (bien, etc.). These are adverbs that we will now be using with our verbs. FRANÇAIS 3: Handout-- Book page 333, Activities 6 & 7. FRANÇAIS 4: IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY: Please go to the moodle, to the READING NEWS STORIES unit, and open the folder with "DEVOIRS, WORKSHEETS, NOTES, etc.". Please download and READ (carefully!) the new notes ("Passive_être NOTES"). No other homework, though it is a good idea to spend some time on Quizlet with the Rodin/Claudel set, and the "A la une: Vocab N°1" set. |
