Français 4: Finish today's recipe (Boeuf Bourguignon) and do the next recipe (Salade Niçoise). Different assignment than previous days: translate the WHOLE recipe into English, and circle or highlight the English translation of the command verbs, present participles, and past participle adjectives.
Français 3: (2nd Hour only) Worksheet handed out in class today (it is also attached to yesterday's post for French 3 -- it was classwork for them). Info about next week's test is also listed there.
Français 4: Finish today's recipe (Boeuf Bourguignon) and do the next recipe (Salade Niçoise). Different assignment than previous days: translate the WHOLE recipe into English, and circle or highlight the English translation of the command verbs, present participles, and past participle adjectives. Français 1: Do the full write-up on one guy and one girl, according to my directions handed out in class (carefully following directions and expectations!). You can just have them done on paper, in the packet I handed out. Français 3: Go to this quiz activity on QUIA--- LOG IN. Do the activity, and ALSO take a screen shot of your results (this is the last activity listed on our QUIA page). TEST WILL BE NEXT WEEK ON THE LONG DAY, over the 6 special-case être/avoir verbs in passé composé, AND agreement with PDOP. (The household vocab will not yet be tested.) IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY: I've uploaded a worksheet at the bottom here. Follow the directions. It took the rest of the class about 20-30 minutes or so to do that.
Français 1: Find, and save on your computer, pictures of 3 males and 3 females. They must have a mx of dark hair, blonde hair, and red hair. Try to make them a variety of ages, too.
Français 3: Study at least 15 minutes online Quizlet and QUIA with the special-case être/avoir verbs AND PDOP agreement. Bring verification. Français 4: Study at least 15 minutes online Quizlet and QUIA with the recipe-related verbs and phrases. Bring verification. Français 1: See attachment, below. Français 3: Everyone should be doing Quizlet and Quia practice, whether it is assigned our not. Expect that we will soon (maybe next week) have a test over the 6 special-case être and avoir verbs, AND over agreement with PDOP (NOT over the vocab yet). Français 4: Everyone: Go to our QUIA page, LOG IN, and do the two green activities (The Pop-Ups, and the Rags to Riches). You can just play each one once, but it might be more helpful to play the Rags to Riches game more than once, since you'll get some different questions with each session. If You Were Absent (M.T.): Watch this video, and write out a translation of the directions they show you. Also, pull out the examples of le participe présent and le participe passé comme adjectif, list those, and translate those in that spot, too.
Français 1: Finish the phone numbers worksheet (the back side).
Français 3: 2nd Hour, follow the directions outlined on mercredi of this week. 5th hour, do the little Quizlet "test" handed out in class. Français 4: Quizlet: Go to THIS FOLDER, where you will find 3 Quizlet activities. Practice for AT LEAST (=au minimum) 15 minutes. Bring verification. Français 3: Quizlet test worksheet handed out in class (2nd Hour only).
Français 4: Next recipe (Soufflé au fromage): First: pull out, list, and translate, 1) command form verbs, 2) participe présent, 3) participe passé comme adjectif. Then, write out a full translation of the recipe (all of this on a separate piece of paper , not in the recipe packet.) Français 1: Attached below, are two documents. This is all work that was either done during class today, or assigned for homework. If you missed class today, open the two documents... but, you don't have to do everything! For the one called "APT...", only do the SECOND page (it's actually page 4). For the phone numbers activity, you only have to do the first six. Follow the directions and the example! Français 3: Pick any 15 of the household vocab words. Use each one in a franglais sentence (that means that there can be English in it!), that clearly shows the context of the target word. NOTE: Be sure that the "target" word is written in French, AND its article (the, a, my, your, his, her, our, some, their) must be in French, too. UNDERLINE and/or HIGHLIGHT the target word. Here is an example: (un fauteuil) Le green fauteuil that I sit in to watch TV, has matching pillows. NOTE: You certainly can put in extra French! At minimum, the target noun and its article, must be in French. EX: Le fauteuil vert that I sit in to watch TV, a des matching pillows.
Français 1: See attached sheet with directions, below. Français 3: Top half of worksheet (please translate all of the words in the choices, for each one, as well). Français 4: Next recipe (Croque Monsieur): pull out, list, and translate the command/directions verbs, the present participles, and any past participle adjectives.
Français 1: "Tu as quel âge?" worksheet, handed out in class. Be sure to ADD a sentence each time using "Il a..." and "Elle a..." (in addition to the sentence asked for in the directions).
Français 3: Nothing written, but I STRONGLY suggest about 10 minutes of nightly practice with QUIZLET for the household vocab! Français 4: 10-15 minutes (minimum) online study/practice with Quizlet or Quia-- Any of our current topics: cooking verbs; faire causatif verbs; expressions with cooking; articles de cuisine (NOT the food ones, though). REQUIRED... and verification needed. Français 1: Finish the math worksheet that we did in class after the test. IF YOU MISSED CLASS ON FRIDAY: 1-- The worksheet is attached, below 2-- You missed our test, and can not make it up during our regular class hours (in order to be allowed to make it up, remember, your absence must be an excused/parent-verified absence), so you should expect to take it on Monday after school (T.N.: During 6th hour). Français 3: No written homework. I suggest that you practice the vocab and the special-case être/avoir verbs on Quizlet! If you bring me a note verifying that you did at least 20 minutes of that (parent-signed), I will give you an extra-credit assignment grade :) Français 4: Fully translate the ingredients (give the American measurement equivalent) and directions for the two recipes we've been working with (write out on separate paper), Pâte à Choux and Flan aux oeufs et à l'orange. IF YOU WERE ABSENT: That is your assignment. Here are a few helpful phrases from the first recipe (and, you don't have to translate the intro sentences above the ingredients, on the first recipe): • d'un seul coup: all at once • environ: about, around • elle doit se détacher des parois et du fond.... : it must pull away from the sides and from the base • une pellicule dans le fond : a film in the base • bien assimilé: well incorporated / well absorbed by • prête: ready • quand elle retombe: when it falls back • sans attendre: without waiting/right away • un ruban: a ribbon • une plaque de cuisson: a baking sheet • selon la taille: according to/depending on the size • un bain de friture: a deep fryer
