Français 3: BOTH 2nd AND 3rd Hours: If you missed class Wednesday OR Thursday: We learned about changing il y a (there is/there are) into the imparfait, to say, there WAS/ there WERE. Il y a becomes il y avait. And, to make that negative (there WASN'T): il n'y avait pas . SO.... the first attached worksheet below, has you guessing what things were around when Mme Chabot was 10, and when she was 21. Follow the directions on the sheet (write out the whole expression every time, don't just checkmark in the box).
THEN: We also learned about how we tell someone's AGE in the past. You must use AVOIR still, but you must put it in the IMPARAIT. So, today, you might say: J'ai quinze ans. (= I am 15/I have 15 years). But, about the past, you put avoir in the imparfait: J'avais 3 ans = I was 3 / I had 3 years. The second sheet has you do an activity talking about things that you had at different ages. Follow the directions, and the example.
VOCAB TEST NEXT FRIDAY, le 25 Octobre! (Là où on vit! packets 1 & 2)
Français 4: All students should be prepared to present on Friday (this week, le 18 octobre). You must have a printed script ready to hand to me at the beginning of class, and ALL students must share their Powerpoint (or whatever format it is) with me VIA GOOGLE DRIVE SHARING by the start of class. I will download the version that is available that morning, so if you make changes later, they will not be accessible to you. You may have one little card with a few helpful words in French, but NOT anything that was learned in this unit, and no conjugated verbs.
